I filari paint the hillside in measured lines as you breathe in the golden summer air that carries the soil’s soft scent warmed by the day’s sun. Across the valley, in the distance, your gaze is drawn to Brunelleschi’s Cupola, perfectly framed by the surrounding landscape. For centuries, this view has mesmerized—now quietly holding your attention. A faint crackle of wood, embers warming the air. At the top of the vineyard, beside a line of olive trees, a table sits—elegant in its simplicity. The evening now gathers there, as practiced hands take their places. Extra virgin olive oil arrives. Its aromas open, fresh and green; the flavors follow, shaped by the air and the soil. The garden gives us what’s next. Marta, guided by tradition and intuition, lets what is fresh now find its way to the table—a quiet prelude as the fuoco vivo takes center stage. Tending the flames throughout the evening is Alessandro Tozzetti—from Macelleria Tozzetti—his craft carried across generations. A mixed grill of Tuscan meats arrives, each cut hand-selected, carrying with it the fire’s warmth. The table, fully alive, raises a glass for la bistecca alla fiorentina, thick cut, seasoned simply with sea salt, fresh pepper, and extra-virgin olive oil. Marta returns, offering something sweet, paired with passito—an ending held in dolcezza. The evening moves with food and wine in easy conversation. Each course finds its match without effort, allowing the table to taste the full expression of La Pia in Percussina’s wines. Nothing competes or collaborates; everything belongs.
