Celebrating the olive harvest
Fest’unta in Faltignano celebrates the campagna olearia — the olive harvest — a moment when the hills of Tuscany are tasted through olio novo.
Olio novo — the first oil of the season — is pressed and tasted in the same breath. Vivid green, grassy, with a peppery finish, it is poured over warm toasted bread with a pinch of salt. It is autumnin a moment. You taste it now, or you wait another year.
At Fest’unta, local producers bring their olio novo — each with its own character — offering a chance to taste the differences, farm to farm. Traditional Tuscan food, wine, drinks, and live music accompany the closing of the season across the hillside.
